Η CURRENT Athens είναι μία πλατφόρμα μη ιεραρχικής προώθησης της σύγχρονης τέχνης.
Athens Design Forum’s first edition will take place Thursday, September 30 through Thursday, October 7, 2021 and will include a series of intimate events and immersive activities throughout the city that aim to showcase the broad range of design prevalent in Greece.

Visitors are invited for the first public opening of the house to view the diverse portfolio of works that animate both the building and showcase a more intimate side of the illustrious artist himself.

Athens-based architectural design practice KN Group partners with artist-designer Stamos Michael to present "Part of something", a commissioned work, as part of the first edition of Athens Design Forum.
Conceived as a site-specific environment that calls upon ecologies of the local, traditional, and personal vocabularies, "Part of something" proposes four instances of a repose pavilion, enclosed within the realm of open space surroundings. Four individual elements — a tree, a platform, a set of partitions, and a gate — are pieced together each time to form a quad where materiality, the natural environment, craft, design, and open space, are contemplated to a symbolic excess.
The project will be presented in two venues:
Τhe garden of the Vorres Museum, a once closed-off private space that will be opened for this occasion will host the first realised installation. The abundant spolia mixed with the rich foliage enables the audience to interact with the installation in an intimate manner - the audience encounters a temporal-built structure in a historic landscape.
The design research and the architectural studies for the first three instances will be exhibited on the first floor of KN Group’s eclectic office in conversation with a series of collectible objects produced by the artist, especially for Athens Design Forum.

TELLURICO X NEOSTANDARD, “DISSONANT CLASSICISM”
ADF INTERNATIONAL DESIGN PROGRAM
Address: Florinis 15, Moschato 183 46 [VENUE PROVIDED BY KN GROUP]
Date[s] of performance/opening to the public: Thursday 30th of September – October 5th Operating Hours: Monday-Saturday 11-7 PM
“Dissonant Classicism “ is a performance designed and realized by Tellurico and Neostandard for Athens Design Forum 2021. The aim of the performance is to use a classical craft for the creation of functional collectible design objects. For this specific performance, the studios focus on the technique of “stucco,’’ an ancient technique common in many Mediterranean countries such as Greece. It was used for covering walls and pillars of classical buildings, often reproducing precious stones like marble and granite. The vision is to use the classical knowledge of the crafts and to apply them to contemporary aesthetics. The objects that will be produced can be categorized as “functional sculptures,’’ which means objects with sculptural facades that serve a specific function. However, the final design is still unknown and will be shaped during the performance.
TELLURICO After graduating with the Master of Contextual Design at Design Academy of Eindhoven, in 2017 Francesco Pace founded Tellurico, a multidisciplinary design studio specialized in objects, spaces, and installations design. The investigation of alternative solutions through the study of folklore, together with the relationship between crafts and the environment has been the center of Tellurico’s practice. The context in which a project is born has been the primary focus of these years’ research. What binds the objects of a place to the characteristic of the place itself intertwines the historical, geological, and social aspects of humankind, as well as the uniqueness and simplicity of everyday life. It is an always expanding field of investigation, as endless are the ways to live. Tellurico lives and works in the Netherlands.

NEOSTANDARD Neostandard is an experimental design studio based between Madrid and Eindhoven. The studio addresses the origin of production processes in relation to the human habits of the 21st century. By doing so, it seeks to make projects that rethink the role of design in the current society and the cultural constructions associated with it. Using non-structured design strategies and different materials and media, the aim of Neostandard is to develop new ways of seeing and engaging with contemporary material culture.

Curated by Founder and Creative Director Katerina Papanikolopoulos, Units of Infrastructure brings together contemporary artists whose adaptations of humble materials broaden interpretations of the notion of translatability. Holly Lueders' watercolors of Patmian interiors reveal the making of home and shed new light on Greek craftsmanship. Zoë Paul’s tiles, made to be installed as a fireplace, breathe a new vitality when seen displaced from their functional role. Kleopatra Tsali’s hand-casted and fired melon lamps become totems, living amongst her series of plaster disassembled houses. Elena Demetra Chantzis prompts viewers to question ceramic production and its place in Greek history as a tool of domestic use.
Artists include: Zoë Paul, Kleopatra Tsali, Holly Lueders, Elena Demetria Chantzis, Maria Halios, Holly Lueders, Yiannos Anastassiou, Theodore Psychoyos, Marianna Xylina
