Les familles de Marianne Berenhaut
Belgium, 2011, video, colour, 16/9, 18 min, french version
Violaine de Villers offers a portrait of the artist Marianne Berenhaut. She tries to capture in pictures the artistic process of creation. She establishes links between the sculptures and the story of Marianne Berenhaut. Both are impossible to separate : it is obvious when we discover the House-Workshop of the artist, full of creations and works of art.
Poupées-Poubelles
Belgium, 2010, video, colour, 16/9, 8 min
Director Violaine de Villers shows us Marianne Berenhaut's Poupées-Poubelles in a church. A woman sculptor talks about women. Aestheticism aside. Raw feminism, before the discourse. Discarded bodies, clothes, objects, utensils, stranded in memory, to express everyday life and history, intimacy and work, motherhood and war, housework and sex. Bodies without faces. A face that cannot be seen, that is simply absent. And yet it cries out. Manifest. Graham Riach's music envelops these ravaged bodies, moving towards and away from them, nervous, hesitant, worried.
