Angela Brown returned to Athens to reexamine her relationship with the city and with reality. Combining survey and experimentation to understand the nature, life, and experiences surrounding her, Angela creates lively worlds that highlight the female experience. 

The paintings give me the opportunity to create an environment with which I interact by physically adding the female figure. I see this as a collaboration between myself and these characters in their specific placement in the work.

About the artist: 

Angela Brown is a painter and printmaker from Edinburgh, Scotland with a background in Ancient Greek History and a recent MLitt from Glasgow School of Art. She explores the physical and cultural landscape of Athens, and her relationship between the monumental and the human, while focusing on female form and identity as an integral part of the cityscape.
