This event is an invitation to think borders beyond geopolitics, considering its emotional, linguistic and intimate dimensions. The video works of Yara Haskiel, Nuno Cassola, Fotini Gouseti, Eva Giannakopoulou and Persefoni Myrtsou unfold tensions between nationalism, love, hostility, ruptures, distance and closeness, and will be the starting point of the discussion.

Yara Haskiel (DE) is a video artist and researcher. The connections between memory and (dis-) placement of minor and forgotten narratives and their social effects are central themes in her work. Further, she focusses on mourning and the effects of precarity connected to love from a feminist perspective. Yara Haskiel works with mobile cameras, found footage and new media in her video essays, multi-screen installations, and performative formats.

Nuno Cassola (PT) Graduated from the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Porto and Master degree in Contemporary Artistic Practices from the same institution, tutored by Prof. Dr. Pedro Llano Neira. He also studied at the University Hochschule Luzern - Design und Kunst, Switzerland and at the School of Communication and Arts of the University of São Paulo, Brazil.
Onboard the Grande Francia freighter, he crossed the imaginary line of Ecuador in May 2012, where he could see everything on the bridge, in a small gray device. A backlit display showed several digits in a countdown, converting suddenly to a rising count. Founding member of Cine Clube Ponto Aurora, based in independent space in the center of São Paulo, Ponto Aurora and Cine Clube Khora in Athens, Greece. He currently lives in Athens.

Fotini Gouseti (GR) was educated at The Athens School of Fine Arts (GR) and completed her master's degree at the Dutch Art Institute in Arnhem (NL) in 2013. She also attended studies of Social Anthropology at Panteion University of Athens. Society is her research field. The procedures she follows, among others, are shifting the subjective point of view and exploring the Other, often questioning commonplaces and given beliefs. She lives and works in Rotterdam.

Eva Giannakopoulou (GR) was born in Athens and she grew up in Ithaca, Greece. She has exhibited and performed in museums, institutions, galleries, festivals, impromptu stages and other public or unconventional sites both in Greece and abroad. Eva is currently residing in Athens where she works.

Persefoni Myrtsou (GR) was born in Thessaloniki in 1986. She graduated from the Fine Art Department of the Glasgow School of Art and received her Master degree from the University of the Arts Berlin. Currently, she is a doctoral candidate at the Institute of European Ethnology of Humboldt University Berlin. Her immediate goal is to bring together her academic and artistic practice. She lives and works in Berlin and Istanbul.

Gris Garcías (MX) artist and an independent curator. Her work is centered around contemporary practices and hybrid productions which emerge from dialogues and correspondences with others. She holds an MA in Artistic Research and Production and has also been part of MACBA’s PEI (Independent Study Program), a Master’s program in Museistic studies and critical theory directed by Paul B.
