17 gestures forced and uttered studies the process of narratives using as a reference point December 2008 events. Five performers re-enact 15 photos from the riots in Athens plus 2 out of context, creating a series of images and gestures that rhythmically repeat in the space, transform and distort.
How is the perception of time affected through led connotations and what is activated through spectatorship?
The work builds a mechanism based on memory and uses photos as a reference point, words as utterance and corporeality as the source of meanings and transformation in the present. 17 gestures function as fractals that articulate narratives and readings. The work proposes a choreographic environment that explores the relations of image, memory, dance and spectatorship.
