FELLOWSHIP PROGRAM 2020
For the third consecutive year, ARTWORKS invites young artists to apply for the SNF Artist Fellowship Award designed to provide financial support and offer opportunities for career development. During the 3rd cycle of the Program, ARTWORKS will support 75 artists working in the following disciplines:
Visual arts: Painting, Sculpture, Printmaking, Photography, Installations, Performance, Video art, Multimedia/New media, Digital art
Moving image: Fiction, Documentary, Animation
Dance: Performance, Choreography
This year, ARTWORKS will also offer 5 curatorial awards highlighting the significant role and the contribution curators have in the art scene.
Each Fellow will receive the award of 8,000€ to work over a period of eight months (September 2020 to May 2021). The award will be paid in two equal installments at the beginning and the end of the Program. During the course of the Program, ARTWORKS will invite art professionals for artists/curators talks, seminars and workshops, and will also organize studio visits and other skill-sharing events for the participating artists. The Fellows are expected to engage with the Program and will be required to report twice on the development of their artistic practice throughout the course of the Program.
APPLICATION ELIGIBILITY
For the SNF Artist Fellowship Program September 2020 – May 2021, artists working in the fields of Visual Arts, Moving Image, Dance & Choreography and Curating as described above, are eligible to apply under the following conditions:
(*) The awards for the 3rd SNF Artist Fellowship will be distributed as follows:
(a) 35 awards to visual artists born between 1985 and 1994 and 10 awards to visual artists born between 1979 and 1984 (b) 15 awards to filmmakers born between 1985 and 1994 and 5 awards to filmmakers born between 1979 and 1984 (c) 10 awards to dancers/choreographers born between 1985 and 1994 (d) 5 awards to curators born between 1985 and 1994.
OPEN CALL
All eligible candidates can submit their application online at art-works.gr from March 11 to April 6, 2020 (23:59pm). Each candidate may apply in one category only, while previous awardees are not eligible to reapply.
In order to complete the application form, the candidates are required to provide a detailed resume, an artist statement, work samples (portfolio) and to answer questions regarding their potential of participating in the Program. Proof of eligibility will also be asked.
SELECTION PROCESS
The SNF Artist Fellowship awardees will be selected through a rigorous process involving art professionals and experts. The selection process will take place in two phases. During the first phase, successfully submitted applications will be assessed on the basis of the eligibility criteria and participation requirements. In the next phase, applications will be rated and ranked by the committees of field experts. Members of the selection committees are chosen by ARTWORKS administration from a wide range of professionals including artists, art historians, curators, scholars, art administrators, producers and others. The selection committee members will examine the artists’ technical skills, the aesthetic quality of their work samples (portfolios), as well as their motivation to participate in the Program.
The finalists will be notified by e-mail no later than mid-July 2020.
