"I started taking photographs from stories which needed to be stored. What was earlier as an urge to document my expeditions turned to a desperation to recall past events. But no matter how lucky the snapshot may be, the tableau remains quiet. How to hear the whispers and hear-says, expand the ambience and carry the encounters with you? Superman stored his long gone recollections in memory crystals. To be Superman. Rapid development of technology has brought 3d crystal engravings to gift shops, offering motives from wedding to family portraits. By replacing the typical placeholders with extraordinary adventures, I’m attempting to freeze time within a keepsake. The commodified technique may seem kitschy but also associates with a recent improvement on data storage technology; a small piece of a quartz crystal is capable to store hundreds of terabytes of data which will outlive the human race and possibly the whole universe. Besides data, the exhibited crystals include three-dimensional photographs shot by yours truly and composed by a laser; an analogue expedition perfected with digital technology where the subtracted material creates an image from the void.
