CURRENT Athens is an online platform for the non-hierarchical promotion of contemporary art.
As part of the Atlas of Mediterranean Liquidity project and the exhibition of the same name at Goethe-Institut Athen, as well as on the occasion of World Water Day (22 March), the institute presents the sound installation The Office of Hydrocommons: Hidden Waters, curated by Eleni Riga. This sound piece is about water and commons in Athens. From the position of the Mediterranean South, it raises key questions about climate and social change in relation to water and the body. It includes pre-recorded sounds of the hidden waters of Attica, interviews with collaborators, as well as excerpts from texts and artworks that are part of the project The Office of the Water Commons curated by Eleni Riga at ATOPOS cvc (22 March-1 July 2023).
The work has taken the form of a sound installation and is part of the Atlas of Mediterranean Liquidity exhibition designed by Eleni Spyridaki in the exhibition space of the Goethe-Institut Athen. The Office of Hydrocommons: Hidden Waters was originally presented as a sound walk in Novi Sad, Serbia, as part of the program 'Walking with Waters' by Balkan ... Projects (October 1, 2022).
