MISC Athens proudly presents heartbeat, an exhibition by Antonis Thedoridis, Nikolas Ventourakis and Peter Watkins.

Athens June 11, 2024 07:00

The city wakes up with a warm smile. It is the day of the 33th birthday of Alfa Romeo 33 who is slowly losing her mind. Light filters through the essence of grapefruits, sweetcorn-scented wind flushes down the not-yet-hot pavement.

Sound of engines is drinking the air polluted with posters and tiredness. Seed that was planted is now size of a human fist. A young  boy with crooked teeth crossing the street with his heart full of tears.  The evening will be superlatively warm and fine. After an hour it will drift like a bed of seaweed above the heartbeat of our sea.

Exactly hundred years ago from today someone wrote me a text by accident, when I was sitting on the bench in Philopappou hill, surrender for ever to the city you love.

‘heartbeat’ presents works by Antonis Theodoridis, Nikolas Ventourakis and Peter Watkins, all having their starting point in Athens.

Curator: Karolina Wisniewska

Antonis Theodoridis lives and works in Athens. With an MFA from Hartford Art School, his works have been shown internationally, including most recently in a solo exhibition in collaboration with European Eyes on Japan in the main program of Eleusis 2023.

Nikolas Ventourakis lives and works between London and Athens. With postgraduate art studies at Central Saint Martins, his work is shown internationally in galleries, museums and biennials.

Peter Watkins is an artist and educator based in Prague, Czech Republic. Watkins received his MFA in photography from the Royal College of Art in 2014 and has since exhibited his work internationally, receiving several awards for his ongoing practice.

The exhibition is part of the APhF:24 Satellite Program curated by Sylvia Sachini.
