Carco Parking, just before commencing its operation, is hosting the group art exhibition Ephemeral Party -the first and last exhibition ever to be held in this space– with a duration of only 7 days! The Ephemeral Party exhibition redefines an everyday public space into an active hub for encounters. Showcasing 19 artists across various media and materials (painting, sculpture, video, installations, performance art), it explores the fleeting nature of life through the lens of dreams, time, and memories. Emblematic works by Giorgos Bouzianis and Yannis Tsarouchis, alongside a poem by Constantine P. Cavafy are brought into dialogue with modern and contemporary artists from both the local and international art scenes.
The exhibition Ephemeral Party originated as an exploration of fundamental questions about art’s potential to integrate into daily life. Set within a parking, it reinterprets a non-traditional venue as an artistic context, reinforcing the idea that art belongs everywhere: it is unrestricted, inclusive, and accessible to all. Spanning three subterranean levels, the space itself becomes an essential part of the exhibition, amplifying its impact. Visitors are invited to wander through the site, and discover works that are "hidden" in unexpected corners.
-1st floor
The ephemeral nature of dreams: On the first underground level, the exhibition delves into the evanescent quality of dreams. From Yannis Varelas' haunting hourly performance and Robert Nava’s imaginary creatures to the surreal works of Konstantin Kakanias, David Sampethai, and Panayiotis Loukas, visitors are immersed in realms that blur the boundaries between reality and fantasy.
-2nd floor
The ephemeral nature of time: Descending to the second underground level, the themes of time and existence unfold through works that confront the futility of human experience. Constantine P. Cavafy’s poem Candles illuminates the paradox of being, conversing with works by Malvina Panagiotidi, Panayiotis Loukas, Iliodora Margellos, Ariana Papademetropoulos, and Dimitris Gketsis.
-3rd floor
The ephemeral nature of memories: In the depths of the exhibition’s third and final level, the transient state of memory takes center stage. Juxtaposed with the works of Giorgos Bouzianis and Yannis Tsarouchis, artists Plum Cloutman, Emmanouil Bitsakis, Apostolos Georgiou, Steve Giannakos, Chryssa (Vardea), Raed Yassin, and Max Hooper Schneider investigate the fragility of recollection and the mental mechanisms of reconstructing the past.
The Ephemeral Party exhibition offers a unique opportunity to witness an artistic intervention in a public space, contemplate the essence of human existence, and consider the ways in which art can seamlessly become part of our everyday lives.
