Tore Wallert (b. Stockholm) is a visual artist based in Berlin, working across performance, installation, painting, and film. He has curated and run numerous art spaces and collaborated with various artists across different cultural fields. Wallert's work explores historical, poetic, and spatial themes that resonate with contemporary culture and his surrounding socio-political landscape. His practice consists of expansive, fictional worlds that incorporate a wide range of contrasting materials and suggestive imagery. In his recent paintings, there is a constant alternation between narrative and form, and between figuration and abstraction. Art history plays a central role in Wallert's practice, with his works actively reflecting on its legacy. Using recognizable universal symbols and traditional painting techniques, he examines the process of art-making and its historical trajectory in light of contemporary cultural and artistic context.
He has graduated from Université de la Sorbonne, Paris, Gerrit Rietveld Academy, Amsterdam, Cooper Union School of Arts, New York City.
